Post Lisbon fun
We arrived back at the house from Lisbon to another feast being prepared by the UK contingent. Those women can cook! It was not quite ready yet, so I took the opportunity to check on some laundry in our house. As I am folding the laundry, I hear the unique Erin cackle from the back yard. I thought to myself that someone must have done something REALLY stupid or REALLY funny to set her off.
Finally she comes bursting into the laundry room, still speechless but full of noises and simply holds up her left hand, which now has a sparkly bit added to it. LOL
She was so excited!
She couldn't stop shaking so Bella and I had to hold her hand still so I could snap this picture.
It is a beauty!
The plan was that she was just going to go over to dinner and say nothing, waiting to see who would notice first.
No one noticed her ring, but they noticed that Erin and Peggy had matching louge wear.
They noticed nothing as dinner progressed.
Poor Connor had missed the plan and most of dinner. When he came over, he naturally asked the kitchen crowd what they thought of Erin and Jay's engagement. So shocked, I yelled his name, probably scaring him more than I've done since he was a little kid, wondering what he'd done now. LOL!
It was a small kitchen crowd. Lou very nicely and demurely commented on how pretty Erin's ring was the next time she went into the dining room to get some food. Well...that just woke everyone up and Erin and Jay had their shining moment. She beamed! So cute!
No wedding date, or even year, is finalized at this point. They will have to plan around the girls' time off school, but they have that in all seasons. Erin would like to finish up her Masters program before she tackles planning the wedding so that she can have fun and not be over-stressed.
This was pre-designated to be a game night, so we all enjoyed multiple games of The Village in front of a nice cozy fire in the drawing room. Many of us had never heard of it before, let alone played it, but we all had a great time. In fact, such a good time that we didn't try any of the other games that night.
