The Arch

It was great to have all my kids (plus one) under the same roof again.  Poor Andy got a healthy dose of living with the Pattersons.  Jenni and Pat planned a reception at their home on Saturday night, so we all decided to visit the main tourist attraction in St. Louis, the Arch, during the day.

We were lucky - it was a beautiful day and the lines were not incredibly long.

The initial view of the Arch as we walked through the adjacent park...

The process is that you acquire tickets then wait for your reserved time.  You pass the time by walking through an exhibit with the timeline of events in the US, with a focus on the explorations of Louis and Clark.  It was very interesting and I learned a lot.  This is my family waiting patiently for me to finish reading everything...

After some tacky tourist pictures, (which they subsequently lost), we were admitted to the final waiting area where we entertained ourselves, and quite possibly those around us, with the scales...

Then, onto the tiny cars for the ride to the top.  Erin enjoyed our ascent.....

Bella and I enjoyed our ascent...

Andy seems okay, but Manda - not so much....

At the very tippy top!

It was such a clear day and the views out over the city were great.

I had to capture a picture of the baseball park where the night before the Cardinals cinched a spot at the World Series, which they eventually won!

My artist daughters noticed the shadow of the arch over the park below - what a cool picture!
My motley crew and I...

Neat photo of the shadow -- poor Manda -- that height would take my breath away, too!
